Class Overview: Would you know what to do if you found yourself and/or your loved ones in an active shooter situation? Active shooter incidents are unpredictable and evolve very quickly. They can happen in many different locations, at many different times. While there are no guarantees, having an established and practiced plan can greatly reduce the dangers faced during one of these unthinkable events. Even a basic understanding in this area can help save lives. That’s why MSAR is hosting an active shooter class to help citizens become more informed and prepared for an active shooter situation.
Class Description: This class will provide information on what individuals, including business owners and employees, can do if faced with an active shooter event. This class will also teach individuals how to recognize signs of potential violence around them, and what to expect after an active shooting takes place. Additionally, this class will teach business owners and managers how to train their employees to recognize dangerous situations and respond appropriately to an active shooter event, should this occur in the workplace or in a public venue. During this class, the following topics will be discussed: Profile of an Active Shooter, FBI Analysis of Incidents, Situational Awareness, How to Respond to an Active Shooter, Dealing with First Responders/Police, Creating an Emergency Action Plan and Dealing with the Aftermath of a Shooting.
